The Pope has announced that he wants to forge alliances with other religions against gay marriage, saying the family was threatened “to its foundations” by attempts to change its “true structure”. He said:
“There is no denying the crisis that threatens it (the family) to its foundations – especially in the Western world.”
Actually there is … he is in opposition to basic human rights. He can, if he wishes, attempt to makeup rules for his little club, but he does not have the right to impose his batty beliefs on others.
He claims that the family had to be protected because it was “the authentic setting in which to hand on the blueprint of human existence“, he added. This claim is clearly false, there has always been a portion of the human population that is gay, to deny it is to deny part of human existence.
In this latest speech, he also claimed that people could not “dispute the idea that they have a nature, given by their bodily identity, that serves as a defining element of the human being.”
He is essentially claiming, with no evidence of course, that being gay is not natural. This is a stance that has been debunked many times over, what is abundantly clear is that people do not choose to be gay, they are born that way, in fact it is not just humans, but has been observed in almost every species on the planet.
So what does target the family unit, what is threatening to destroy it? Catholicism is.
We are burnt out hearing about case after case after case of thousands of child abuse by clerics. “Oh,, but it was only a few bad sheep” some might quip. If only that were true, but sadly it is not, they chose to turn a blind eye to it all and engaged in a conspiracy of silence that ended up protecting the abusers. That is all in the past now … right? Alas no, today’s news is that a deacon in a Canadian church is being charged with producing and distributing child pornography. This chap was a communications director for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. He helped co-ordinate World Youth Day conferences in Toronto, Rome and Paris, according to the organization’s website.
When you deploy irrational beliefs that attempt to impose a very non-human unnatural stance of celibacy upon humans, then there will be consequences, because many will not be able to cope.
