Really!! you could actually do that? … apparently yes, it was a thriving business.
Within their September 2012 update they explain …
The following items are also being added to the prohibited items list: advice; spells; curses; hexing; conjuring; magic; prayers; blessing services; magic potions; healing sessions;
But why would they do this now, this stuff has been on sale in there for years for the gullible to buy, for eBay to profit from, and for the rest of us to laugh at, what has changed? eBay explains …
Transactions in these categories often result in issues between the buyer and seller that are difficult to resolve.
No kidding, how the heck do you even begin to resolve an issue such as cases where somebody buys a love spell that then (gasp) fails to deliver, the word “difficult’ does not even begin to describe it.
Now least you are pondering the thought that eBay has decided to cease being a conduit for such fraudulent claims, they have not. While it is indeed now true that you cannot buy what could be best described as “nothing at all” (spells, hexes, blessings, etc…), you can still buy the physical clutter such as Ouija boards, psychic crystals, incense, candles, etc… but at least it is a step in the right direction and so now you can avoid getting nothing for something from the folks who saw this as a way of getting something for nothing.
What has been the response to this move? Well how about these comments (from the LA Times) that fall into the WTF category …
I must also say that yes, there are some scumbag fake sellers in the magickal category; [Oh, and there are honest real ones as well!!!]
I am completely outraged at ebay for shutting down the magickal section. I am not a seller, I am one of the thousands of repeat happy buyers. The magickal section is the only reason I ever even go to ebay. I think it is absolutely ridiculous to shut the whole thing down when most of these sellers have 99% feedback or above.
whoever is trying to ban us witches must be catholic or christian, its ok to believe yes as one stated in the BIBLE but one cant believe in magic when its all over disney world.
… but there are also comments from the folks who have a sense of humor …
Can we still sell our souls here?
I don’t get it. First of all, why didn’t any of the psychics see this coming?
And as for my own thoughts, well there is of course a special truly magical set of words to help guide you through all this, and those words are … Caveat emptor
